Distribution Companies Responsibilities
According to Article 38 of the Electricity Law, the licensee who distributes electricity shall:
Establishment and implementation of electricity distribution projects on medium and low voltages.
Management, operation and maintenance of distribution networks in the areas in which it is licensed to carry out its activity.
Establishing, managing, operating and maintaining its generation units in coordination with the network operator, and selling the electricity generated from it with a license from EgyptEra .
Selling electricity on medium or low voltages to non-eligible consumers in return for a selling tariff proposed by the licensee and issued by EgyptEra .
A proposal for connection to the distribution network, which is effective after being issued by EgyptEra.
Preparing and implementing expansion plans for distribution networks issued by EgyptEra to meet the needs of consumers. .
To carry out studies, research and development in its field of activity.
To carry out any other business or activities related to or complementary to its activity after notifying EgyptEra. The aforementioned competencies shall be carried out in accordance with the principles and rules specified by the Secondary Executive Regulations.
According to Article 39 of the Electricity Law
The licensee for electricity distribution is obligated to allow others to use his networks without discrimination to supply electricity consumers with their needs within the limits of the technical capabilities of these networks, according to the exchange fee usage issued by EgyptEra in accordance with the distribution rules approved by it.
According to Article 40 of the Electricity Law
Article 40 Electricity may be purchased and sold through an authorized distributor in accordance with the conditions and rules specified by EgyptEra in the license granted. EgyptEra may issue licenses to others to engage in the same activity in the same geographical area.
